This is my third Thanksgiving in the United States. Two years ago I wrote about it on my blog.
For Dean Thanksgiving is much more important than Christmas. For me, certainly not yet, but I do appreciate its message.
This year we also went to friends in San Francisco. Food was served buffet style. There was turkey, goose, potatoes, beans, stuffing, cider and many other delicious dishes.
The day after Thanksgiving (this is always the last Thursday of November), the majority of Americans have holidays. But I was surprised when I saw that today postman delivered mail around the neighborhood.
Friday is also known as Black Friday, the day of crazy deals. However, more and more people choose to hunt for bargains online. One of the sports gear chain has even closed its stores, encouraging their workers and clients to spend more time outside (see pic below).
We did not make any big purchases, other than jars with baby solids. But we went to a Chilean restaurant, which was delicious. A tasty chicken dish was delivered by mistake and ended up being complimentary. Perhaps the holiday spirit has come early to Berkeley?
Or perhaps it’s right on schedule! The day after Thanksgiving usually starts the Christmas season, and the neighbors are already gearing up. After the Thanksgiving feast they decorating their houses with red bows and green wreaths. I love this time of year 🙂
And here you can read about and see more photos from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in NYC.
