Las Vegas is a city that you can either love or hate – tackiness radiates from every corner, imitations of ancient monuments startle the eyes, but gamblers and hotel guests don’t seem to mind. After all, who wouldn’t like a photo of the Eiffel Tower without needing to buy a ticket to Europe? It’s also noticable that Las Vegas has seen better days, as there are now far more people asking passers by for cash.
After a few days I began to relax and enjoy taking photos and just be a tourist; you can forget your worries, escape from everyday life, and simply reset and have good fun. Have you seen the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas ?… But to elope in Las Vegas – never ever! 🙂
From my observations I can say I wouldn’t choose this town for a vacation with a bigger Rose. For us the main reason for the trip was Dean’s work conference . We inevitably missed a lot of Las Vegas atractions. The outdoor pools were closed for the winter season. And you can smoke in the casinos, and of course children are not allowed. But once I managed to play for a few dollars, which I quickly lost:)
If it had been otherwise, depending on the type of game I would have had taxes withheld. To give you an example: for the lucky ones playing poker, a minimum withholding threshold of $5,000 is set, but for bingo wins it is just $1,200. The tax withholding is not progressive and set at a level of 25%. Even if you escape withholding, you still are supposed to declare winnings on your taxes. I wonder how many winners actually report!!
At the end of our stay, our mood wilted as we watched the coverage of San Bernardino attacks.
Take a look at our pictures.
Ps. Dean wants you to hear this:)
